    Hourly rate:
    $23.20 per hour (L2)

    The Relief Childcare Worker is responsible for assisting in the implementation of the Child Care Program in accordance with the goals of the department and the overall Association.

    YWCA Bergamot is a 68 unit apartment building with an Early Learning Centre in North Etobicoke for single women, gender-diverse people, women-led and gender-diverse people led families in need of permanent, affordable, supportive housing.

    The Bergamot ELC is a centre of excellence for early childhood development and licensed for 62 children ages 0 to 4.

    YWCA Bergamot demonstrates YWCA Toronto's commitment to creating quality, affordable housing in which women, gender-diverse people and their children realize their dreams and move forward in their lives.

    Follows age-appropriate daily routines for the children in accordance with the philosophy of the program;
    Works as part of a team with program staff and volunteers to provide an integrated program that enhances the social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of children;
    Implements a program geared to the needs of the children with concerns for their interests, special needs, strengths and pace of learning;
    Works with the children in a group while maintaining sensitivity to each child's individual needs;
    Ensures that the Health and Safety Guidelines are followed in accordance with the policies and procedures of the funders and YWCA Toronto;
    Ensures appropriate notification of child abuse as required by the Child and Family Services Act in accordance with YWCA Toronto policies and procedures;
    An Early Childhood Education Diploma or recognized equivalent plus 1-3 years' experience with children ages 0 to 4 (Cases for Equivalency will be considered);
    Early Childhood Education diploma an asset;
    Personable, Reliable, flexible, and adaptable;
    Experience working with children 0-4 years of age;
    Experience with children with special needs is an asset;
    Experience with diverse families and children;
    Knowledge of child development;
    Passionate, Caring and supportive;
    Standard First Aid and Infant Child CPR (Level C).
