RESEARCH ASSISTANT LEVEL 2

VIS-AGE LAB, FULL TIME**
(Contract, One Year Renewable)
70 HOURS BI-WEEKLY | NON-UNION | DAYS

The Rotman Research Institute (RRI) is a premier international centre for the study of human brain function.

The RRI advances the understanding of human brain structure and function in critical areas of cognitive neuroscience, including perception, memory, language, attention, and decision making.

With a primary focus on aging and brain health, RRI scientists and trainees, and other clinician researchers across Baycrest, promote and impact effective care and improved quality of life for older adults through research into age
- and disease-related behavioural and neural changes.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Recruitment and screening of research participants for in-person or on-line studies of both healthy younger and older adults, and individuals with cognitive impairment or dementia
  • Conducting research visits, including sensory, cognitive, and neuropsychological assessments, and electroencephalography (EEG)
  • Conducting reviews of medical charts to identify participants and extract data
  • Scheduling participant visits and coordinating work with other lab members (supervisor, students, volunteers)
  • Creating and overseeing research and participant records, assisting with data processing and analysis
  • Managing data and databases using REDCap and other tools
  • Overseeing training of students on research procedures and protocols

Qualifications include but are not limited to:

  • Sc. in Psychology, Neuroscience, or a related discipline with at least five years of full-time experience; or a Master's degree with two years of experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent problemsolving skills, timemanagement, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently, problemsolve, and pay attention to detail
  • Strong computer skills and ability to learn new software quickly
  • Experience working with older adults and/or in a clinical setting
  • The following qualifications are considered an asset:
  • Experience with aging research, neuropsychological testing, and electroencephalography (EEG)
  • Experience working with research data, including data management and analysis
  • Knowledge of REDCap, R, RStudio, MATLAB, Python, or PsychoPy
