ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Report directly to Director of Engineering, VxWorks/Platforms.

You will be an integral part of the highly skilled "Helix Virtualization Platform" team developing and sustaining technologies and features for Wind River's flagship Real Time Operating System VxWorks.

You will manage and work with a skilled team to plan and drive execution of projects and feature development while following well-defined Agile processes.

You will collaborate cross-functionally with architects, technologists, product managers, remote development teams, and customer-facing teams to deliver capabilities across Wind River's Helix Virtualization Platform products, ensure high performance, usability, and product quality.


Responsibilities:


  • Manages team priorities and assignments.
  • Collaborates with architects/senior developers and product manages to define, estimate, and plan feature development.
  • Collaborates with Certification Office to ensure safety standards are met and development artifacts are generated per plan.
  • Work with Agile Scrum Teams and lead the team to design, implement, and refine feature development, testing, and processes.
  • Oversees project logistics and resource allocation.
  • Strive to improve efficiency and sustainability of processes and product designs
  • Secures the resources needed for teams to excel, including helping to identify hardware needs, tools needs, etc.
  • Helps to create and oversee project budgets and engages in cost management strategies.
  • Communicates and engages with product, field and customers on product and technology information.
  • Collaborates with other team leaders and departments.

ABOUT YOU

  • Have good knowledge of safety certification workflows and artifact life cycle management (i.e., DO178C)
  • Good knowledge of safety standards (e.g., DO178C, ISO26262) and aerospace specifications (e.g., ARINC653, FACE)

  • Good knowledge and understanding of embedded software technology and processes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science or higher degree in Computer Science, Computer/Electrical/Software Engineering, or equivalent work experience
  • 2+ years of managing teams doing software development
  • 5+ years working in a safety certified environment (ideally DO178C)
  • 7+ years working in software development field

It will be great if you also have:

  • Knowledge and experience with software development tools such as Git, BitBucket, Jenkins, JIRA, Coverity
  • Knowledge and experience with life cycle management tools such as Polarion, Code Beamer, JAMA, DOORS/Test coverage tools such as LDRA
  • Familiarity with Agile and continuous integration and continuous development (CI/CD) or DevSecOps concepts.
