Description

As the People Operations Manager (Contract), you will help us achieve our vision by driving systematic, sustainable growth of the AC team and contributing to a thriving AC community.

Reporting to the VP, Operations, this role is responsible for the AC's internal Human Resources functions, internal operations activities and administration within the organization.

This position is also responsible for the cadence, management and administration of the organization's Board of Directors and corresponding committees.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
Human
Resources

  • Work with the Director of Finance to support the compensation delivery process
  • Perform compensation grading analysis of new roles as the Chair of the Job Evaluation Committee
  • Responsible for staff compensation and performance review structure and process.
  • Manage the employee benefit program and liaise with service providers as necessary.
  • Responsible for the recruitment and selection process including drafting job descriptions, coordinating hiring committees, and filing employment documentation.
  • Responsible for the onboarding and offboarding process for staff members
  • Managing the AC's HRIS and other digital tools relevant to the employment experience.
  • Responsible for the AC's Health and Safety program
  • Responsible for identifying, scheduling and coordinating training and development opportunities for staff.
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating AC policies.
  • Ensure changes to the ESA are incorporated into AC policies.
  • Chair the Social Committee and guide its efforts to engage staff

Governance

  • Support our Board of Directors and governance procedures while maintaining the confidentiality and integrity
  • Liaise with the Chair of the Board for the management and preparation of meeting logistics, circulating meeting materials and coordinating presentations
  • Work with the AC's leadership team to prepare quarterly board reports.
  • Maintain and update AC governance documents including presentations, bylaws, charters, director registries and distribution lists
  • Provide ongoing support to the Committees of the Board by scheduling meetings, assisting in circulating agendas, arranging meeting logistics, minute transcription, and ensuring compliance with committee charters.
  • Support the onboarding and offboarding of new directors including assisting with coordinating orientation sessions

Administration

  • Comanagement of the operations budget with Facilities Manager
  • Manage the AC's internal data management strategy and digital tool stack
  • Responsible for the legal review process of AC's contracts and agreements
  • Ongoing assessment of insurance coverage and coordination of the annual renewals.
  • Responsible for the AC's IT and cyber security portfolio including maintaining and updating IT policies, cyber security insurance and relationships with the AC's IT service provider.

FOR

  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada
  • 57 years' experience in human resources, governance or related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience managing internal human resources functions
  • Maintain a high degree of confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism while dealing with and and engaging with sensitive financial and HR information.
  • A proven track record of managing budgets
  • Ability to multitask and manage a portfolio of projects with changing priorities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willing and able to work out of our Waterloo location and travel as required

Bonus points if you possess:

  • CHRP or CHRL designation, or working towards obtaining designation
