Summary:


Essential Functions:


  • Ensure all work performed by, or on behalf of the company, complies with all governing Laws, Practices, Codes, and Regulations.
  • Adhere to Safety Standards & Requirements includes 3rd Party Vendors and Contractors.
  • Initiate and manage Change Control for applicable Controls System changes.
  • Provide escalation and technical support postequipment installation which may include regular, offshift and weekend coverage.
  • Contribute to the Definition, Implementation, and Maintenance of Standards for the Process Control Systems for equipment.
  • Develop business case and justification for new technology proposals and presents plan to management stakeholders.
  • Conduct analysis and review technical information for existing equipment system performance to identify areas of improvement.
  • Design & develop new technology strategies to address manufacturing gaps/ opportunities.
  • Prepare and deliver technical training to applicable Operations & Maintenance teams for modifications or new systems.
  • Mentor and coach team members within the Equipment Maintenance Department.
  • Prepare drawings and specifications, process control narratives, instrument lists, loop diagrams, and I/O lists.
  • Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) at OEM facilities and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
  • Project manage integration and startup of the new manufacturing technologies to ensure deliverable is completed on time, within budget, and with the correct technical documentation.
  • Represent department during Control System related Equipment Investigations.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and report potential hazards.
  • Dayshift On-Site.
  • Perform alternating or rotating shift work (as required)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Specialization with a Technical Diploma in Electrical, Mechatronics, or Industrial Automation & Instrumentation.


Experience:


Minimum 4 years' experience in Instrumentation & Controls experience, preference would be given with experience in bio/pharmaceutical, medical device or regulated GMP facility.

Experience with different network and network communication protocols, such as Ethernet/IP, ControlNet and DeviceNet would be an asset.

Experience in project management would be an asset.

Experience with Engineering Software:

AutoCAD, Siemens, RSLogix 500 & 5000, Factory Talk Batch, Factory Talk Historian, Factory Talk View SE, Maximo is an asset.


Equivalency:

Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.

Follow all Environmental Health & Safety Policies and Procedures. Work harmoniously with fellow team members, modelling positive team principles and partnering to meet project and departmental objectives. Carry out all duties within strict compliance to Patheon quality systems SOPs and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). Maintain workspace in a clean and orderly fashion.

Actively engage in and adhere to departmental systems to maintain a smooth and efficient workflow (visual management, scheduling systems, etc.).

Always be patient and client conscious. Understand Metrics & Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and engage in problem solving to identify areas for system improvements.

Models positive thinking, is open to change, motivates the team to adapt to changes in priorities and new ways of working.

Proactively identify areas for improvement in the execution of procedures. Communicate risks to timelines of deliverables in a proactive manner. Consistently strives to improve skills and knowledge in related field.


Physical Requirements:


Position requires ordinary ambulatory skills and physical coordination sufficient to move about manufacturing/office locations; ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch periodically for prolonged periods of time; manipulation (lift, carry, move) of light to medium weights of up to 40 pounds; arm, hand and finger dexterity; visual acuity to operate equipment, and read materials for prolonged periods of time; ability to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear for prolonged periods of time.

Usually in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors causing moderate physical discomfort from such things as dust, loud noise, bright lights, fumes, or odour.

Use of Personal Protective equipment is required and may include any of the following:
safety glasses, safety shoes, lab coat, gloves, hair net, beard cover, safety apron, respirator.
