Full-Time, 35 Hours a week, Contract June-September 2023

POSITION:
Summer Student

  • Adult Protective Service Worker Program (APSW), APSW Resource Guidebook

LOCATION:
Alliston with travel throughout Simcoe County


PURPOSE OF POSITION:


To support APSW staff to develop a resource guidebook detailing services and programs for housing, transportation, food banks, medical, dental, recreational, and other provincial or local resources.

The guidebook would be utilized by APSW staff when supporting persons served to ensure all applicable resources can be explored to better address their support needs.


STATEMENT OF MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with the development of the guidebook in hard copy formats and to work alongside information technology and administrative staff as needed, to house the guidebook in the Adult Program shared drive.
  • Contact with persons served as required.
  • Provide support for additional research and program tasks, as assigned.
  • Must be aware of and adhere to Health & Safety Policy Rules & Regulations.
  • To adhere to all agency standards, policies and procedures demonstrating knowledge and skill in decision making and problem solving and participating as a team member.
  • Provide a welcoming, professional working environment, respecting the values, culture, and beliefs of staff, people served, and their families.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • Enrolled in a relevant postsecondary education program (Developmental Service Worker, Social Service Worker, Social Worker, etc.)
  • Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Office experience is an asset.

Knowledge and Skill Level

  • Knowledge of local community resources is considered an asset.
  • Excellent communication, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to organize workload and establish priorities.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in grammar and spelling.
  • Knowledge and experience with Zoom, and Microsoft 36
  • Respectful of the confidential nature of the agency.

Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle is required.
This position is not within the bargaining unit.

Hourly Rate:
$16.00 per hour
