Responsibilities

  • Provide day to day care and support to each individual resident; to offer a warm, safe environment for each resident, ensuring their comfort and welfare needs are met.
  • Support the residents to prepare and transport to Care Community events that promote a positive resident experience.
  • Acts as a resident companion as directed; provides comfort and support and companionship to the residents.
  • Assists with table/tray preparation, serving of beverages and accompaniments, and serving of food.
  • Completes laundry and housekeeping duties as directed, including, but not limited to, restocking shelves and making beds and transporting personal laundry to and from the laundry to the residents' room and organizing closets and cleaning bedside tables.
  • Participates in admission orientation and the transfer process of the residents as directed.
  • Transports the residents to and from their rooms, recreational activities, health office and dining room as required.
  • Assisting an HCA with transferring or ADL (only if they are with an HCA and only as needed)
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

  • 12year experience required
  • Registered with provincial health care registry is required
  • Graduate of a recognized school of Nursing with a current registration or eligible for Registration with the BCC&M
  • Proficient with or has the ability to learn software such as Senior Care, EMAR, Gold Care.
  • Experience with health IT systems and software (i.e. Microsoft Programs).
  • Evidence of essential leadership, communication, education, and counseling skills.
  • Completed Food Safe certification
  • Experience in a residential care setting is preferred
  • Demonstrate infection control procedures
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with peers, residents, visitors and operational partners
  • Superior organizational skills with the ability to handle multiresident requests
  • Superior oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate the ability to prioritize and problem solve
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time, bend, squat, kneel and lift 25 pounds
  • Display compassion, education, proficiency, and experience while assisting residents
  • Other duties as assigned to support operational requirements

Conditions of Employment

  • Valid CPR and First Aid
  • Clear Police Information Check
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Check
  • COVID19 vaccination. This requirement will be waived if you did not receive the vaccination due to any legislated protected human rights grounds
