Palfinger is seeking an experienced HR Business Partner to join the Palfinger HR team for our Niagara Falls, Ontario manufacturing facility.

The HR Business Partner will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the organization's human resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating positive employee relations, recruitment and human resources policies and programs; and will assist in the facility's safety programs and culture.

Primary Responsibilities:


  • Administers strategic and tactical approaches in employee development, positive employee relations, policy and procedure compliance and development, training, compensation, benefits, and performance evaluation.
  • Assists the organization in driving a worldclass safety culture in the facility. Sits on the safety committee, ensures compliance with all local, provincial, and federal workplace safety laws and regulations, coordinates training.
  • Responsible for full life cycle recruiting: recruiting, screening, and recommending placement of staff by using creative sourcing methods (internal and external). Implement and improve HR recruiting reporting, systems, and programs.
  • Recommends HR best practices to maximize performance, productivity, efficiency, and morale across the organization.
  • Strives to improve metrics by reevaluating and changing processes to result in constant progression in HR practices.
  • Maintains a strong relationship with all levels of management, employees, and other business units by effectively assisting and coaching managers, supervisors and frontline staff on employment related topics and issues.
  • Provides internal human resources expertise and training to managers and supervisors in the areas of performance management, organizational development, training and development of leaders and their teams to enhance crossfunctional effectiveness and support management initiatives.
  • Stays current on new trends in the HR field to maximize attainment of established plan objectives.
  • Provides guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning, and succession planning.
  • Conducts exit interviews and analyzes turnover data to make recommendations to the management team to reduce unplanned and regrettable turnover.
  • Maintains an attitude and philosophy consistent with the company's integrity standards.
  • Participates in administrative staff meetings and other meetings with respective business units.
  • Maintains the security and integrity of confidential employee data and files.
  • Oversees the attendance tracking systems including attendance policy enforcement.
  • Coordinates hiring, terminations, employee transfers, etc., in person and into the HRIS software.
  • Manages the employee reviews and the performance improvement process and is integral in ensuring performance improvement is executed fairly, consistently and in compliance with policy and statutes.
  • Maintains communication devices and bulletin boards, facilitates employee functions, ensures employee kiosks are available and functioning properly.
  • Manages HR reporting to management, corporate and other parties including government agencies.
  • Onsite position, not remote or hybrid.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP/SCP, other professional HR related training and certifications helpful.
  • 1+ years professional HR experience required, preferably in a manufacturing environment with a high degree of responsibility in recruitment and positive employee relations.
  • Experience providing internal consulting and training to supervisors and managers on employee issues related to performance and development, including succession planning helpful.
  • Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations, demonstrates group presentation skills, and is comfortable in planning, facilitating, and conducting meetings.
  • Ability to edit work for spelling and grammar, present numerical data effectively and ability to read and interpret written information.
  • Experience and proficiency in payroll and HRIS systems required, experience in ADP and SAP Success Factors highly preferred.
  • Prioritizes and plans work activities, uses time efficiently and develops realistic action plans.
  • Demonstrated accuracy and thoroughness, history of monitoring own work to ensure quality.
