    Description

    Purpose of Position:

    To oversee and direct the operational issues being handled by the Controllers currently on duty.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • In conjunction with all members of the SOCC (System Operations Control Centre) team provide direction and leadership to the Maintenance Control functions.
    • Utilizing the resources available, ensure operational integrity is maintained over all day-of-flight maintenance activities with safety always being the priority.
    • Monitor system wide, day-of-flight operations for potential or actual maintenance issues, and liaise with Planning Unit Manager (PUM), Line Maintenance (Supervisor), Chief Duty Dispatcher (CDD), Crew Scheduling and Flight Operations on Call Manager as required.
    • Lead and direct Maintenance Control personnel on their shift and co-ordinate the day of ops system wide Line Maintenance activities, including direction to the bases on RON (Aircraft Remaining Overnight) workflow as it relates to head start performance.
    • Lead and direct Maintenance Control personnel on their shift and co-ordinate the prompt resolution of MELs (Minimum Equipment List) and ST Perm's
    • Work with the Day of Ops Planning group to ensure MTC Control and Planning are working in conjunction to best utilize manpower and facilities.
    • Chair the daily Maintenance Operations Conference call; involve all parties on the call to take ownership for specific issues.
    • Review and investigate on behalf of the Maintenance department, all Maintenance related departure delays and cancellations and request recodes as required.
    • On a daily basis, co-ordinate the A.M. start up call with the RON (Aircraft Remaining Overnight) bases.
    • Ensure there is a coordinated effort on any parts requirements with the Material coordinator (MATCOR).
    • Review previous days delay report for accuracy and carry out follow-up with the base and other appropriate parties if required.
    • Recommend changes to the Maintenance Control Standard Operating Procedures, as well as other related documents, and policies to the Manager, Maintenance Control.
    • Make recommendations to improve services currently provided by Contract maintenance companies.
    • Act as the support function in overload situation where the controller is dealing with a heavy workload.
    • Assume specific duties of the Manager, Maintenance Control as required.
    • Other related duties as assigned.
    • Perform duties in accordance with established policies and procedures while giving primary consideration to personal safety, and the safety of co-workers and customers.

    Qualifications:

    • Must have held the position of a Maintenance Controller for at least 5 years.
    • Must hold valid AME (M or E) rated Transport Canada License.
    • Must hold a Jazz ACA License endorsed on all company types.
    • Bilingual (English and French) considered an asset.
    • Must be a well-organized, self-starter with great communication skills.
    • Must work well with other technical groups and have the ability to consistently handle stressful situations.
    • Effectively provide coaching and direction to all Maintenance Control employees.
    • Ability to focus on building strategic working relationships within the many facets of the Jazz operational network. This would also include relationships with external customers and vendors.
