Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated,
Shredder Cleaner to join our team for the afternoon shift, starting at 3:00pm-11:00pm.
This position requires a keen eye for safety, the ability to work in a physically demanding environment, and a commitment to maintaining a clean and organized workplace.
Responsibilities:
- Equipment Cleaning: Clean and maintain shredding equipment, including conveyor systems, screens, magnets, and other components, to ensure optimal performance and prevent contamination
- Remove unwanted materials, such as nonmetallic objects, dirt, and other contaminants, from the shredder and its surrounding areas to prevent damage and maintain efficiency
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), to maintain a safe work environment
- Adhere to lockout/tagout procedures and other safety practices
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the shredder area, ensuring the removal of debris, proper waste disposal, and general housekeeping tasks
- Maintain accurate records of cleaning activities, inspections, and any maintenance or repairs performed on the shredding equipment
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, operators, and other team members to coordinate cleaning schedules, report issues, and ensure smooth operations
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in an industrial cleaning or maintenance role is preferred
- Basic understanding of machinery and equipment operation is an asset
- Knowledge of safety procedures and the ability to follow safety guidelines and protocols
- Physical stamina and the ability to perform tasks that involve standing, bending, lifting, and manual dexterity
- Attention to detail and the ability to spot and remove contaminants from the shredder equipment effectively
- Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize cleaning tasks and meet deadlines
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Good communication skills to interact with supervisors, operators, and other team members
- Familiarity with metal recycling processes and materials is an asset
