Title Mental Health Wellbeing Facilitator


Reports To Director of Programs and Services


Hours Full time 40 hours per week
Occasional weekend and evening hours

Summary of Position Provide supports to staff and volunteers to adapt to organizational changes related to COVID-19. (e.g., Mental and physical health and wellbeing supports, peer learning, professional development, networking)
Adapt or add-new program and service delivery to meet the changing needs of the community because of COVID-19. (e.g., Research and development, identify new health and safety processes and required personal protective equipment, technology supports, staffing and volunteer recruitment and training, community consultation to understand emerging needs related to COVID recovery, resource, knowledge and data sharing, feasibility studies)
Expand previously adapted programs and services to meet the changing needs of the community because of COVID-19. (e.g., Continue program/service previously adapted to meet needs arising from COVID

  • 19, scale access to program/service previously adapted to meet needs arising from COVID19, continue programs meeting a community need arising from COVID19, improve quality of programs already being delivered)

Expected Outcomes The MHWBF will work with crisis situations and help deescalate clients in real time along with helping the SSW team to focus their skills and expertise on guests who have less complex needs.

Staff will have time to consider all conditions impacting our guests, including physical health, so that guests with symptoms related to COVID can be properly screened and referred higher care levels.

The MHWBF will have a broad awareness for community programs and services that focus mental health and collaborate with these service providers to refer guests to their agencies for treatment/counselling.


Education Degree or diploma in relevant discipline


Skills Required CPR/First Aid, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, HIFIS,
Mental Health First Aid
Working knowledge and experience working with vulnerable populations, including those at risk of, or experiencing, homelessness and available community resources
Knowledge of concurrent mental health disorders, treatment of and community resources
Knowledge of substance abuse its treatment, approaches to recovery and community resources
Working knowledge of Naloxone and its function to reverse opioid toxicity
Significant ability to problem-solve, using analysis and creativity to resolve for unique and complex issues


Further Requirements Must Understand and promote Health & Safety as everybody's responsibility.

Provide leadership to the SSW program staff for any direct program responsibilities

Act as a mental health resources for all staff and or programs at the DTM

Duties & Ensure guests receive the pertinent Mental Health service in an effective and

Responsibilities safe manner building trust

Safeguard all confidential information
Conduct interviews with guests as well as their families to review and assess their situation
Offer support and information regarding Mental Health
Advocate for and develop plans to improve guests' wellbeing
Make decisions and recommend the best course of action
Liaise with, and make referrals to, other relevant agencies
Maintain accurate records in a timely fashion
Prepare reports for potential legal action, as required
Identifies safety issues/problems and informs the appropriate individual when issues arise; reports unsafe working conditions
Works with disadvantaged and challenging adults in diverse environments

From $18.00 per hour
