    Summary

    Opportunity for a dedicated Health and Safety Professional looking to work in a collaborative team environment with a leading COR certified ICI industry Contractor. Our Company has an excellent Safety record and culture directly supported by Senior Management.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Perform regular weekly on site safety inspections at our Niagara project to ensure compliance with our crews, and sub-contractors.
  • Assist with Project Safety Set-up, hazard identification and controls.
  • Provide leadership and support to ensure participation and compliance with Health and Safety Awareness and Construction Specific Safety Training .
  • Assist with incident investigations, implement controls and recommendations.
  • Assist with new employee orientations.
  • Train employees in WHMIS, Ariel work platforms, Forklift, Telehandler and various other certifications that may be required. (Train the trainers not mandatory, however are considered an asset.
  • Assist in the creation of various Site-Specific Work Plans for Hoisting and Rigging, Confined Space, etc.
  • Participate and engage JHSC members and Supervisors to ensure safety awareness and compliance.
  • Analyze safety performance and make recommendations to continuous improvement.
  • Proactive mentoring in all aspects of on-site health and safety aspects.
  • Ability to work with clients and other Safety Professionals to achieve best results.
  • Regular reporting and planning for set-up and maintaining safety program and culture.
  • Desired Skills & Experience

  • Graduate of a recognized Health and Safety Program. NCSO designation considered and asset, however not required.
  • 5+ years of actual on-site safety experience, ICI Construction preferred.
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook.
  • Valid Drivers License.
  • Ability to assist with preparation, planning and implementation of JHSC, tool Box Talks.
  • Train the Trainer for WAH, WHMIS, First Aid, Competent Supervisor, IPAC, Forklift, Scissor Lift, Telehandler, Hoisting and Rigging, Confined Space would be beneficial.
  • Working knowledge of the Ontario Health and Safety Acts, and Regulations.
