The Role


The Project Manager supports the internal Interior Design team on project specific needs such as client and external consultant communications, schedules, workflow, deliverables, technical reviews and contract administration.

Utilizing well developed skills of project management, problem solving, communication & leadership the Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing the scope of work, supporting the execution of the work by coordinating the team, supporting quality control throughout the process and closing out projects successfully.


Skills & Qualifications

  • A great leader, team player, a strong and positive communicator, and particularly skilful in managing communications, personalities, time and quality.
  • Understanding of the interior design workflow and technical specifics.
  • Experience working directly in the field of Interior Design and/or Architecture considered an asset.
  • 34 years experience as a Project Manager in a minimum of one of the following design/construction sectors: Multi-Residential, F&B or Hotel / Hospitality.
  • Thrives in a fast paced work environment and manages obstacles and tight deadlines with a positive attitude that inspires the broader team.
  • The individual should be a strong communicator and able to evaluate the most effective way for the team and themselves to multitask.
  • An ability to understand and embody the Ste. Marie perspective, design process and approach to our clients, our projects and our studio.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD is an asset.
  • Experience using Smartsheets, CoresAdobe Suite and Google Suite.

Role & Responsibilities

  • To support the Lead Designer through the duration of a project lifecycle, engaging team resources and roles, supporting the schedule, managing communications.
  • Report to Team Director to to chart, calibrate and improve ongoing studio project management & project life cycle processes.
  • Unearth key project milestones & red flags to effectively manage project workflow.
  • Ongoing support to the internal team of Lead Designer, Designers & Technical team to ensure quality studio drawing standards, drawing organization, schedule documents, specification methods, project schedule and communications throughout the project.
  • Act as a project liaison and main support for internal team with clients and external consultants while building and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Manage procedures and documents pertaining to contract administration including: construction drawing check set review, RFI procedures, shop drawing and material submission review, Site Instructions, Building Code compliance, onsite construction coordination and risk/problem solving.
  • Attend site meetings to monitor progress and quality of work.
  • Oversee coordination and installation of styling, FF+E and custom millwork where required.
  • Prepare field reviews and/or deficiency reports.
  • Assist in creating and archiving the templates and typical details for future project use for internal database.
  • Standardize on implementation of studio communication, workflow, archiving and documentation processes.
  • At project commencement, with support of Team Director and/or Associates, manage project onboarding process, assignment of and management of project milestones & associated deliverables.
  • Support on protocol guidance on contractor and field interaction.
  • Create formal documents where required to standardize design practices and workflow protocol.
  • Support in providing scope, fees and manage approval process for major Change Orders within projects.
  • Provide project updates & facilitate weekly internal project update meetings.
  • When necessary, manage onboarding & scheduling of freelance contractors, including providing scope of work, establishing fees & schedules, and managing deliverables.
