    JOB OVERVIEW

    Ontario Power Generation Inc. (OPG) is looking for a professional with a combination of Legal and Commercial experience to join our team in the role of Senior Manager, Commercial Management & Intellectual Property in our Oshawa or Downtown location.

    Reporting to the Director, Commercial Management & New Nuclear the Senior Manager, Commercial Management & Intellectual Property will utilize their experience to assist with OPG's enterprise-wide IP strategy development and implementation, within the broader commercial management team supporting OPG's new nuclear mega projects and business development.

    This newly created role is at the cross-roads of Commercial Management, Legal and Business Developments functions, and represent an exciting opportunity to work in an environment where you will contribute to Ontario Power Generation's continued growth and success in generating safe, clean, reliable low-cost power in a sustainable manner.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Develop a commercially savvy IP contracting strategy across the New Nuclear business segment including data management, processes and approach to valuation.
    • Establish effective and efficient business processes to identify, protect, categorize and value OPG's IP.
    • Ensure consistent implementation of such IP strategy across mega projects and enterprise-wide functions (e.g. Engineering)
    • Support business development activities at the corporate level, leveraging existing project knowledge to drive new nuclear commercial growth.
    • Understand and leverage IP valuation methodologies to develop monetization strategies with 3rd parties.

    EDUCATION

    • Minimum 4-year university degree; Law, Business, Economics, Engineering, or Science, or a relevant study is required;
    • Master of Business Administration (MBA) is preferred but not required

    QUALIFICATIONS

    We are seeking an entrepreneurial-minded, tenacious and curious person who is passionate about building business, innovation and new ideas.

    • Significant experience working with commercial contracts, preferably supporting infrastructure construction, EPC or energy organizations;
    • Demonstrated analytical and creative thinking skills to understand IP problem statements, assess opportunities and develop IP management strategies;
    • Experience developing strategy to support business development activities;
    • People and team oriented with a strong ability to establish an excellent level of confidence, credibility and cooperation with OPG's internal and external stakeholders, working cross functionally in a matrixed environment;
    • Ability to present information clearly and effectively, communicate well, both verbally and written, is essential.
    • Experience working in a Law firm, or as in-house counsel would be a strong asset.
