Reporting to the Director, Inflight Product, this role has the responsibility for the development, planning and management of current and new catering product services & standards of all flights across Air Canada.

Collaborative relationships with operational groups and business partners are key to the success of this job.

Working closely with their peers in the Inflight, Finance and Catering Operations teams, the Manager, Catering Product will develop the catering product that support Air Canada's customer experiences goals and commercial strategy, while ensuring innovation, excellence, implementation consistency and quality assurance.


Key Functions & Accountabilities

  • Support the annual catering budget
  • Deliver on customer brand promise and vision as it pertains to products in the inflight food menu environment,. This includes operational feasibility analysis with the Catering Operations team.
  • Lead the implementation & operationalization of new menus and catering product initiatives, including all relevant communication, sourcing requirements and updating of internal & external documentation
  • Team management of three, including the development and succession plans for the team.
  • Management of budget, including:
  • In partnership with Strategic Procurement, lead the catering product tender process, including specification requirements, vendor review and selection, AFC presentation. Negotiate with suppliers & caterers on pricing and ensure Air Canada to ensure quality, as well as optimal financial and operational results.
  • Produce and maintain meal level unit costs and work closely with Director, Inflight Product to develop annual budget
  • Prepare and issue contract tender information package for food contracts and analyze cost submissions.
  • Regular management of key productrelated programs, including
  • Work closely with suppliers & caterers to design and develop meal specifications and implementation of all Air Canada, Rouge, Jetz, Jazz and Special Meals requirements, including new stations startups and service concepts.
  • Interface with caterers regarding the implementation of all menu/product changes
  • Lead feedback on catering related items from all internal stakeholders (such as IFS, Catering Operations, Yammer) and external sources (such as Caterers and Customers) and adjust the onboard product as necessary
  • Implementation of onboard catering product requirements for International Business Class, North America Business, Premium Economy, Premium Rouge, and Economy Class based on current market trends & passengers demand in support of Air Canada's Commercial strategy
  • Lead the onboard product coordination preparation of all stakeholders to ensure Air Canada achieves the best possible results on all Skytrax and other external audit programs
  • Create and maintain documentation associated with meal changes; meal grids, catering documentation, onboard cabin crew serving instructions and billing files
  • Conduct meal presentations with caterers and support new station startups
  • Vendor management, including
  • Act as key interface between Air Canada and our valued catering suppliers
  • Accountable to establish and evolve KPI metrics and contractual operational SLAs to be monitored and adhered to by the operational and supply chain teams working daytoday with the various 3rd party caterers and suppliers

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or master's degree in Business Administration, Strategic Sourcing and/or Economics an asset
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in management consulting, food/culinary field or In-Flight Service Catering & Logistics, or the equivalent
  • Solid understanding of financial principles and be able to manage budgets, forecast costs and pricing, and evaluate the financial impact of new initiatives
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with an aptitude to prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities
  • Experience managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders, and be able to develop and execute project plans within scope, timeline, and budget
  • Creative mindset and be able to generate innovative ideas to improve the catering product offerings and customer experience
  • Continuous improvement mindset, seeking out opportunities to enhance the catering product offerings, processes, and customer experience
