Consider this opportunity to join the team at the Toronto South Detention Centre with the Ministry of the Solicitor General as a Driver, where you will provide operate ministry vehicles such as vans, cars, panel trucks to transport offenders and deliver/pick-up supplies in a safe and secure manner.

What can I expect to do in this role?: You will:
- drive institutional vehicles, staff and offenders in a safe and secure manner
- ensure vehicle inspections and routine maintenance are regularly performed for safe and proper operation
- maintain vehicle records and electronic vehicle logs
- complete required paperwork for each laundry pick-up and delivery
How do I qualify?:
Mandatory Requirement:
- You have a valid Ontario class G Driver's License and satisfactory abstract
Specialized Knowledge and Experience:
- You have experience operating vehicles, including driving techniques for various types of vehicles
- You have demonstrated thorough knowledge of Ontario traffic laws
- You are able to operate radio equipment to maintain contact with facility
- You have experience maintaining vehicle in safe operating condition (including conducting standard vehicle safety checks, assessing vehicle condition, identifying need for repair or maintenance, etc.)
Reasoning and Problem-Solving Skills:
- You are able to determine route adjustments due to traffic, weather or road conditions
- You have demonstrated ability to understand and follow organizational policies and protocols
- You have organizational skills to carry out duties in an efficient manner
Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
- You can convey facts and information regarding pickups and deliveries and completing reports/logs
- You have demonstrated professionalism, tact and courtesy
