Team & Job Overview


This will be achieved by qualifying potential EDC clients, by cross-selling opportunities for current customers, and by coordinating EDC resources to provide predictable product solutions and service delivery to the customer.

You will raise awareness of EDC's working capital solutions through regular contacts with financial intermediaries and other influencers.


Discipline Summary

  • Creates business development opportunities in Canada with small businesses across a spectrum of industry sectors;
  • Promotes and sells a suite of working capital solutions to current and new customers;
  • Evaluates and recruits new potential customers by qualifying leads and developing an indepth understanding of prospects to ensure a substantive opportunity pipeline;
  • Plans and manages time effectively while managing a large portfolio of existing customers;
  • Gathers and shares market intelligence across various sectors through external interactions with buyers, banks, exporters and sector associations to develop new opportunities and new services/products customized to clients' needs;
  • Influences client and prospect decisions by building and maintaining effective longterm relationships within a geographic and/or industry focus
  • Collaborates closely with external partners and internal risk teams on transactions;

Key Responsibilities

  • Manages an assigned portfolio of accounts;
  • Qualifies potential customers and promotes EDC's full range of products;
  • Assesses export financing, risk management or other needs and matches solutions to these needs;
  • Monitors the progression of a sales pipeline and is involved in transaction facilitation where appropriate;
  • Executes projects, initiatives and tasks related to the fulfillment of the market coverage mandate;
  • Identifies market trends and intelligence observed in the territory for the purpose of developing overall regional or sector strategies;
  • Serves as the knowledge base and problem solver for the prospect/client; handles client negotiation strategies and manages interactions in a positive and professional manner to the mutual satisfaction and benefit of prospects/clients and EDC;
  • Team player with collaborative mindset.

Screening Criteria

  • Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Commerce or other relevant discipline
  • 02 years (Associate Account Manager) or a minimum of 2 years (Account Manager) of business development and commercial lending experience in international business and/or financial services and/or trade credit insurance;
  • Knowledge of best practices in strategic sales and/or account management;
  • Bilingualism (French & English)

Assets

  • Business development experience in commercial banking;
  • Knowledge of bank credit and lending practices;
  • Knowledge of international business practices and international trade;
  • MBA or CITP (Certified International Trade Professional) designation

Salary Range
Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from:

  • Associate Account Manager: $54,566 to $72,722, + performance-based incentive
  • Account Manager (Business Development 18): $69,670 to $92,894, + performancebased incentive.
