REPORTING LINE:
The Hestia Participant Support Worker reports directly to the Team Lead and the Program
Manager.
POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
The Hestia Participant Support Worker operates collaboratively as
part of a multi-disciplinary team supporting participants between ages 17-24 who are or are at risk of
being homeless and who are not able to utilize their natural support systems.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide assessment, support, and instruction to participants on daily living skills, including but not
medication support, budgeting, personal coping strategies, problem solving, recreation and
socialization.
- Assist and encourage participants in the pursuit of leisure activities, exercise programs and community
- Coordinate and participate in group recreation activities.
- Assist participants in developing personal daily living goals and facilitate progression of the goals.
- Assist participants with family communication, mediation, and boundaries.
- Act as a positive, pro-social role model for participants
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum grade 12 education, with preferable training in related field
- Understanding of; Trauma-Informed, Person-Centred Care, Harm Reduction Philosophy, Housing First
- General knowledge of issues surrounding adolescence (ie. Addictions, childhood trauma and abuse,
- Ability to assess and respond appropriately in emergency situations.
- Standard First Aid-Level C with AED.
- Clean Criminal Record Check and Child and Youth Intervention Record Check.
