Gillespie-Munro Inc is looking for an
Accounting Specialist to join our growing team. This role is reporting to the Chief Financial Officer of Rome Logistics Group. The Accounting Specialist is responsible for assisting with all accounting operations of the company, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE).

This is an
_in-office _Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm
position**, with a great team atmosphere.


Duties and responsibilities include:


Accounting & Payroll:


  • Ensure that the assigned payroll is completed in a timely manner in accordance with company procedures and recommend changes if warranted.
  • Ensure that any assigned end of period tasks such as reconciliations are completed accurately and within the deadline provided.
  • Ensure that required debt payments including remittance of source deductions are done so in a timely basis.
  • Maintain and review the chart of accounts for assigned companies recommending changes if warranted.
  • Maintain and review internal controls including the maintenance of records and an audit trail and make recommendations for changes where warranted.
  • Review accounting processes and recommend any changes if warranted.
  • Complete and provide accurate financial statements including a corporate annual report where assigned.
  • Render any reasonable assistance to external auditors in the audit or review engagement process.

Analysis & Support:


  • Work with staff to ensure that accounts payable are paid appropriately and in a timely manner and that accounts receivables are managed effectively.
  • Work with their manager to develop and manage a formal performance management system including cost budgeting. The Accounting Specialist must be aware of exceptions and must be able to flag, explain and/or take corrective action as required by their manager.
  • Assist in the production of budgets and forecasts for management decision making with any variances or significant issues being reported to their manager.
  • Meet regularly with other managers and with department personnel to ensure that the relevant information flows through the organizational chart to ensure that goals and objectives are achieved.
  • The Accounting Specialist will provide any reporting requested by their manger in a reasonable timeframe.

General Requirements:


  • The Accounting Specialist is expected to maintain a level of professionalism and be an example to other staff in their behavior and conduct including adherence to corporate policies.
  • Unless required by law, maintain the confidentiality of company information unless written authorization to the contrary is provided by management.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

You Have:


  • Fluently Bilingual in French/English is required. (Reading & Writing)
  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Chartered Professional Accountant designation in good standing is an asset.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, and NetSuite (an asset)
  • Able to manage a high volume of workflow with a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with and solicit cooperation from others.
