Overview:

Pembina Pipeline Corporation's Calgary office is recruiting for a Specialist, Corporate Planning to join the team. This position reports to the Director, Strategic Planning in the Financial Services Unit, part of Pembina's Financial Service Division.


The Financial Services Unit supports the company's major decisions through an in-depth understanding of financial health in the short term and long term, credit, and market risk, weighted average cost of capital, and capital markets opportunities to pursue growth (considering financing strategy, M&A opportunities, etc.).

The team is responsible to understand the current state as well as the future state across a variety of scenarios, and their potential impact to external stakeholders (such as shareholders and rating agencies).


The Specialist, Corporate Planning will steer a team of FP&A professionals and oversee the day-to-day activities as part of Pembina's enterprise budgeting & forecasting functions, which includes stewarding Pembina's monthly forecast process, annual budget, long range plan and scenario analysis.

This role will provide support to the Director by surfacing insights in our plan through comprehensive knowledge of business unit operations and corporate drivers, and act as a key integration point to our investor relations, major projects, corporate development, and finance teams.


Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Lead Pembina's planning process including reviews, reports, and presenting consolidated budget and forecast material to the CFO, executive team and preparing Board presentations;
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with BU teams, as well as, Treasury, Tax, Risk, Corp Development, Investor Relations, Corporate Strategy and Financial Reporting, to ensure that financial projections are valid and incorporate their collective outlook;
  • Works closely with the Internal Financial Reporting team to ensure findings in actuals are reflected in forwardlooking forecasts and viceversa, as applicable;
  • Develop and mentor the team exercising high degree of informal people leadership;.
  • Reviews and provide guidance for group deliverables;
  • Engage and support Business and service units in the advancement of Pembina's Capital allocation and portfolio approach, including forecasting standards and governance;
  • Supports management and leads projects, developing financial projections to meet the needs of other corporate groups and work closely together with Pembina's strategy group;
  • Champion innovation and systems in pursuit of efficiency in Pembina's enterprise planning;
  • Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related discipline;
  • CFA, CPA, MBA is a preferred;
  • 8+ years' transferable experience, with experience in a capital markets or finance discipline an asset;
  • Embodies Pembina's values of safe, trustworthy, respectful, collaborative and entrepreneurial;
  • Prior experience in SAP, BPC, SAC or other financial planning tools would be an asset
  • Outstanding financial modeling and economic evaluation skills; and
  • Knowledge of the Oil and Gas Sector in general and infrastructure industry. (Market structure, business strategy, regulations and policies, etc.).
