MCFD's community-based Child and Youth Mental Health (CYMH) clinicians work in partnership with families and communities to foster positive mental health outcomes and well-being for children and their families.


Child and Youth Mental Health Clinicians provide direct clinical services such as intake, assessment, treatment, suicide risk assessment, safety plans and crisis intervention for children and youth from birth to age 18 and their families.

Clinicians work in flexible ways, including in home, school and community settings.

Through consultation, the CYMH Clinician will build and maintain relationships to support coordinated services and positive outcomes for children, youth and families.


The primary responsibility of this Clinician is to provide mental health services to children from birth to age six and their families as part of the integrated team.

This can include direct clinical services such as intake, assessment, treatment, suicide risk assessment, safety plans and crisis intervention for children and their families.

Job Requirements:


  • Masters in Social Work, Educational Counselling, Clinical Psychology or Child and Youth Care or comparable graduate degree at the Master's level, or equivalent.

NOTE: If your degree was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.

  • Minimum of one year fulltime equivalent experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

  • Six months or more experience working with parents/caregivers and children 8 years of age and under.
  • Training in infant/child development as well as clinical experience working with infants and young children.
  • Applicants who selfidentify as First Nations, Métis or Inuit with the required combination of education and experience.
  • A valid class 5 BC Driver's license with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).

About this Position:

This posting is to fill 1 permanent full-time position in Burnaby South CYMH.

An eligibility list may be established for future full-time and part-time permanent and/or temporary vacancies, including Float positions in the North Fraser Service Delivery Area (Burnaby, Maple Ridge, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, New Westminster).

Travel within these communities is required for Float positions.
