Description

Our client is an established law firm that has been operating for over 10 years and is currently expanding its business and growing its team in Milton, Ontario. They have an opening for a licensed Paralegal to join their Criminal Law practice. They are seeking a licensed Paralegal who has knowledge and experience with Highway Traffic Act and Commercial Vehicle Operations Registration matters.

Responsibilities:

• Represent individuals charged with Highway Traffic Act and Commercial Vehicle Operations Registration infractions.
• Attend court (virtually or in-person) for "Provincial Offences Act (P.O.A.)" matters.
• Review and request disclosure.
• Conduct P.O.A. crown pre-trials and judicial pre-trials.
• Legal Research
• Attend court for "set-date" type matters for Counsel.
• Communicate with P.O.A. clients regularly about the status of their matter.

Requirements:

• Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
• At least 2 years of experience
• Familiar with all aspects of the "Commercial Vehicle Operations Registration (C.V.O.R.)"
• Familiar with all aspects of the "Highway Traffic Act (H.T.A.)".
• Knowledge and experience with respect to appearances (virtual and in-person) before the Ontario Court of Justice
• Knowledge and experience defending Highway Traffic Act and Commercial Vehicle Operations Registration matters.

Additional Requirements:

• Candidate should have a drivers license as travel to and from court may be required.
• Working in-office will be expected.
