Selwyn Community Childcare Centre (SCCC) established in 1989 and is a not-for-profit community
- based childcare, located in Selwyn Elementary Public School, in east Toronto. Our children range in ages from ages 2.5 to 10 years, with an operating capacity of 108 children. Selwyn Community
Childcare Centre is a unionized workplace under CUPE Local 2484.

Selwyn Community Childcare Centre is looking for an energetic, experienced, and fun-loving RECE, for our preschool program.

Education/Qualification_

Registered and in good standing as an Early Childhood Educator (RECE) with the College of

Early Childhood Educators

Posses a solid knowledge in child development

Current certificate in Standard First Aid and CPR - C with focus on child and infant CPR (with

Epi-pen training)

Strong planning, time management, problem-solving and interpersonal skills

Possess a recent and clear criminal reference check, including the Vulnerable Sector check

Possess Toronto Public Health's Food Handlers Certificate, an asset

Training in Toronto Public Health online COVID-19 module

Experience_

Minimum of 3 years of on floor experience

Working knowledge of the _Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014_

Ability to work independently and make decisions regarding crises and difficult situations based on knowledge of the _Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014_ and the policies and procedures of

Selwyn Community Childcare Centre

Working knowledge of the requirements of the Early Learning and Assessment for Quality

Improvement (AQI)

Working knowledge of the Six Principles of ELECT

Working knowledge of Infection Prevention and Control in group settings

Working knowledge of the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice as stipulated by the College of Early Childhood Educators

Working knowledge of "How Does Learning Happen? Ontario's Pedagogy for the Early Years"

Experience or placement working with families in a multi-cultural setting

Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act is an asset

Experience in working with children with special needs and their families

Mature and responsible attitude towards work

Ability in managing children's behaviour

A thorough understanding of the issues that affect children and their families, especially within the context of teaching, learning and care

Duties and Responsibilities_

Collaborate with children for planning and implementing of a high-quality program based on children's development, How Does Learning Happen and culturally appropriate which meets the needs of the children

Appropriately documentation of the program, the children's development and daily observations

Ensure that programming always embodies and reflects the principles of equity, inclusivity and diversity

Set up an educational classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the physical, social and emotional development of children

Ensure that the children's learning environment is safe and conducive to creativity, cooperation and sharing

Always participate as a positive role model in the classroom. This includes using appropriate language while in the classroom, participating in meal times, engaging in positive play activities and showing respect for materials, colleagues, parents and children

Must demonstrate the ability to support the social and emotional development of all the children

Set reasonable behaviour expectations for the children based on their development, consistent with best practices, current teaching and learning pedagogy and Selwyn Community Childcare Centre's philosophy and policies

Promote the Centre's philosophy and communicates issues to parents in a positive, professional and respectful manner by establishing a clear communication protocol

Maintain confidentiality of all information related to Selwyn Community Childcare Centre's children, families, staff and the Board of Directors

Ensure that all licensing and other regulatory requirements are met and maintained

Carry out the duties and responsibilities assigned to you by the Director and/or Board of Directors

Maintain regular attendance and punctuality

Maintain a superior level of professionalism at all times while working at Selwyn Community

Childcare Centre

Actively monitor Selwyn Community Childcare Centre's indoor and outdoor spaces to keep a clean and safe environment

Work cooperatively and collaboratively as a member of a childcare centre team, facilitating a team environment through personal behaviour, work contributions, and the sharing of expertise and knowledge
