Volunteer and Fundraising Coordinator
The Redwood assists women and children to live and thrive free from abuse, homelessness, and poverty.

Core services include a 35-bed emergency shelter, 24/7 access to counsellors through text, live chat and telephone crisis lines, employment initiatives to help survivors become economically self-sufficient, and anti-violence intervention and prevention counselling that Redwood caseworkers bring directly to survivors living in neighbourhoods all over the GTA.

Duties and Responsibilities

Volunteer Program


Working under the direction of the Senior Director, Fundraising and Communications, this role is responsible for implementing The Redwood's Volunteer Services Strategy.

The Volunteer and Fundraising Coordinator will be tasked with building and fostering meaningful relationships between the volunteer team and the mission and vision of the organization.


  • Develop and implement a fullcycle wellnesscentric volunteer program including recruiting, screening, training, placing, scheduling, evaluating, and stewarding, with assistance from direct supervisor and other program managers. Produce a detailed monthly report of the volunteer services program, including a needs assessment and scheduling.
  • Create and implement a plan to build and enhance an effective volunteer program, including evaluation of the current system and planning for the next fiscal year.
  • Manage the volunteer database while keeping proper documentation of all volunteers.
  • Attend to all volunteer inquiries and concerns.

Fundraising Program

  • Assist in planning, coordinating, and organizing donor recognition including 'thank you' calls, letters, cards, and events.
  • Support the Fundraising Department in planning and executing various internal and external events such donor meetings.
  • Participate in planning and executing The Redwood's annual fundraiser, International Women's Day and Pride events.
  • Provide a wide assortment of administrative support for Fundraising including but not limited to, database management, data input, maintenance of donor records, donor stewardship and communication, event coordination, and general office functions.
  • Maintain the Symbol of Hope donor recognition wall
  • Answer donor and prospective donor inquiries accurately and promptly.
  • Represent and the organization at community events and gift presentations as needed.

Other

  • May be assigned to other responsibilities, within reason, as determined by direct supervisor.
  • Postsecondary education in a discipline appropriate and relevant to volunteer or staff management or fundraising.
  • Experience working in a volunteer program, in social services, or human resources.
  • Strong problemsolving, options exploration and conflict resolution skills.
  • Solid understanding of and experience working within an antiracism and antioppression framework with diverse communities.
  • The ability to handle multiple and competing priorities effectively and efficiently daily.
  • Excellent writing and oral communications skills.
  • Computer literacy including use of Microsoft Office 365, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams, as well as Zoom
  • Experience with Canva, Constant Contact or Mail Chimp, and ASANA an asset.
  • Experience with a CRM database and Raiser's Edge an asset.
  • Knowledge of CRA tax receipting rules and regulations an asset.
  • Knowledge of the social service sector and understanding of genderbased violence is an asset.
  • Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check within the past three years.

Working Conditions:


  • Works extensively at a desk using a computer up to 8 hours in a working day.
  • Works in a standard shared office environment.
  • This position will involve some local travel within the community, along with picking up equipment and materials. Must have ability to lift 30 lbs.

Compensation:
$60,000 per annum
