- Comprehensive knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care.
- Knowledge of COTBC standards of practice and guidelines for clinical practitioners.
- Knowledge of occupational theory and practice within a client/family centred model of care.
- Demonstrates ability in dealing with a variety of situations and responsibilities requiring initiative, creativity and professional judgment.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of a client and family centered recovery model in mental illness, trauma-informed and low-barrier care.
- Knowledge and skills to provide care coordination to a select caseload of clients.
- Knowledge and experience in providing culturally safe and competent care, specifically pertaining to Aboriginal people.
- Knowledge and experience in Trauma Informed Practice, Harm Reduction and Recovery Oriented Care.
- Some knowledge of mental health illness and treatment.
- Broad knowledge of substance abuse and addiction treatment.
- Broad knowledge of other facilities and community resources on the North Shore and Squamish Valley.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with clients and their families, colleagues, physicians, and other health care staff, both one-on-one and in groups.
- Demonstrates listening and information seeking skills that promotes communication and lead to a cooperative approach to problem solving within a multidisciplinary setting.
- Ability to establish workload priorities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to provide consultation and leadership.

About The Opportunity
Working as an integral part of the Yúustway Health and Wellness Department, this position reports directly to the Manager, Home and Community Care (HCC), the Occupational Therapist facilitates the day-to-day scheduling of clients that require home support services. They are the first point of contact between clients and home support team members. The incumbent also performs many daily administrative and logistical duties. The Occupational Therapist preferably has experience working with First Nations communities and brings a solid understanding and application of Indigenous Cultural Safety to their role.
