Scope


Reporting to the Demant Operations Director, the BTE Service technician is responsible for repairing, servicing, reprocessing, modifying, and checking of each hearing instruments and related products to ensure customer satisfaction.

Related products may include, but not limited to, personal FM, connectivity devices, classroom devices, Diagnostics instruments, earmolds, and programming devices.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Save user setting before doing any repairs and restore the settings after the repairs
  • Set the instrument to factory setting for troubleshooting
  • Conduct quick diagnosis to identify instruments for local repair or for inhouse repairs
  • Prepare any paperwork required for devices
  • If applicable, perform modification such as colour change, bone conductor, tamperproof battery door, switch free top shell, etc.
  • Conduct appropriate tests such as, Acoustical, Listening, Range, Connectivity, etc.
  • Conform that the speaker units are performing to specifications
  • Request / get required parts for modification
  • Perform the modification as per instruction and test the modification for functionality
  • Repair Connectivity Devices, and Personal FM devices
  • Perform firmware update, modification (Expansion modules), RF alignment, in applicable and needed
  • Conduct appropriate testing such as, Bluetooth Connection, Wireless communication, FM Transmissions/Receptions, Tympanometry, Bone Conductor, Battery, etc.
  • Plan and request for parts and packaging needed for reprocessing
  • Replace and/or clean cosmetic parts
  • Ensure items meets the product specification by the manufacturer
  • Erase and/or reset pervious user settings
  • Conduct appropriate troubleshooting and techniques to correctly identify or verify the problem for each instrument/device
  • Provide timely feedback to Customer service, Audiology support, Field Service Technician or the Manager regarding design change and status of repair as observed
  • Maintain a clean, safe and productive working environment
  • Assist other technicians as required to accommodate for changes in volume, work flow and/or staffing.
  • Provide guidance and training to each other when required to ensure all technicians are competent in the various areas of production and product knowledge
  • Conduct basic equipment maintenance as necessary
  • All other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Minimum of 1 year of working experience in a Production or Manufacturing environment is required
  • Excellent manual dexterity and handeye coordination are necessary
  • A solid understanding of reading and interpreting schematics, charts, and technical manuals
  • Uses various common hand and power tools and precision instruments as required
