Reporting to the Senior Director of the Office of Inclusion and Social Accountability, the Office Assistant plays a multifaceted role.

Primary responsibilities include creating and managing documents such as correspondence, reports, and contracts, along with operating various office equipment. This role also involves answering phone calls, processing forms, and performing a range of general clerical tasks.


The role will be public-facing and include supporting Indigenous patients, families, staff, and the Elders program within the Indigenous Healing Space.

The Office Assistant will support the ER Navigators program, schedule appointments, and manage bookings in the healing space at VH In addition, the Office Assistant will create promotional materials, order supplies, answer calls, and take meeting notes.

Additionally, this role will schedule and coordinate with elders at UH and VH, support with record keeping for patients and staff using elder services, and work closely with administrative staff.


What We Offer:

  • Status: Temporary Fulltime (1year contract)
  • Rate of Pay: $22.927 per hour to $24.805 per hour

Qualifications:


  • Successful completion of Grade 12 or equivalent education acceptable to the Hospital
  • Successful completion of a Health Care Office Assistant Diploma preferred
  • Minimum 6 months recent, related clerical experience
  • Knowledge of Culture and experience working with local Indigenous communities in Southwestern Ontario preferred
  • Recent working experience and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated effective organizational and time management skills in a very demanding environment
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve effectively and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain patient confidentiality
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's vision, purpose and values
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

Before beginning employment at LHSC, all new hires will be required to:

  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis;
  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step);
  • Provide proof of Health Canadaapproved COVID19 vaccination reflective of Ontario Health's current definition of being fully vaccinated
