Position Summary:


The Simulation Centre Research Assistant will support the Simulation Centre Coordinator and other Simulation Centre team members during the infrastructure development and implementation phases of the Simulation Centre for the School of Social Work at McGill University.

The role of the incumbent is primarily assisting with the planning and coordination of the Simulation Centre functioning.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Undertakes research activities using established inclusion criteria—and tracks, organizes, and summarizes search results.
  • Assists Simulation Centre Coordinator with literature review centered on simulation best practices and incorporation of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) principles.
  • Supports Simulation Centre team during online and inperson Simulation Centre events.
  • Collaborates with Simulation Centre Coordinator to produce and edit video recordings of simulated clients.
  • Participates in actor training sessions and other meetings in preparation for simulation events.

Minimum Education and Experience:


An ongoing BSW student in social work and social work internship experience in more than one area (i.e., case management, group work, crisis intervention, therapeutic or counselling work).


Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:
Experience in simulation research and co-curricular coordination is needed for this position. Proficiency in Excel and Word. Demonstrated organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks. Punctual and reliable. Ability to meet deadlines. Spoken and written English and French. Experience with theatre/acting, educational simulation, and video recording/editing would be assets.
