Reporting to the Director, Human Resources Services and CHRO, as a senior HR staff you will provide HR expertise and leadership and deliver quality, customer
- centered service to the assigned client group and portfolio. You will demonstrate skills and expertise in the areas of management consultation, recruitment, performance management, labour relations, disability management, WSIB, compensation and benefits, organizational design and development including change management and experience working within a unionized environment.


Duties Include:


  • Advising/consulting, management at all levels on the administration of human Resources policies and procedures;
  • Collaborating with the Director, Human Resources Services and CHRO, reviews, develops and makes recommendations regarding policies and procedures pertaining to attendance management, worker safety initiatives, health and safety initiatives;
  • Provides employee relations support on HR policies and procedures and responds to HRrelated requests
  • Developing and presenting training related to HR programs;
  • Compensation and benefits administration;
  • Coordinates/oversees administration of the range of benefit packages to agency staff (group insurance/extended health /dental coverage; RRSP;
  • LTD; CAA; disability management; optional life insurance;
  • Liaises with the Finance Department to reconcile information;
  • Coordinates annual salary and benefit surveys;
  • Provides advice & consultation to Human Resources staff and agency management with respect to postings, selection criteria, qualifications, interview tools and testing;
  • Ensuring HR programs and services are in compliance with established policies and procedures and provincial/federal laws, regulations and the Collective Agreement;
  • Assists with the development and coordination of recommended changes regarding workflow and quality assurance;
  • Conducts audits of activities, completes and develops reports as required to ensure compliance on the specified programs;
  • Works in a safe manner in accordance with the Society's Health and Safety
  • Policies and procedures and all relevant legislation;
  • Undertakes other special projects and research as required.

Qualifications Required

  • Minimum of five (5) years of HR experience working in a senior role in
  • Human Resources along with a CHRP/CHRL and postsecondary degree and/or post graduate diploma in Human Resources;
  • Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills and interpersonal skills in order to work effectively with a variety of diverse individuals and groups to resolve conflict in an effective manner;
  • Leadership skills and initiative to identify issues, and to prepare, present and advocate for solutions to arising issues;
  • Experience in related areas such as: mediation; investigation; negotiation; conflict resolution; team building;
  • Skill in using technology as part of managing daily communication, team relations and provision of consultation services i.e., voice mail, electronic mail, word processing and interactive data base software (Microsoft Outlook,
  • Project planning software, Microsoft Word/Project, etc.);
  • Working knowledge of HRIS (ORACLE)
  • Strong judgment, analytical skills and sound problem skills to effectively to determine the nature, urgency and appropriate action required.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills to multitask and prioritize work items across all areas effectively and efficiently.
  • Discretion, tact and good judgement to handle sensitive and/or confidential issues and inquiries, and sound problemsolving and reasoning skills to undertake research and prepare clear reports, analyzes, and presentations.
