  • 3 weeks' vacation (after mandatory completion of waiting period)
  • Provide primary support to women, couples, and families who are at risk of eviction
  • Assessment, intake, housingbased case management, eviction prevention, supportive counselling, education, and advocacy
  • Answer phones, determine program eligibility, offer brief resolution services, and collect statistical data on program referrals
  • Work is done in the community and in the office
  • Visiting women, youth and families in their home, attending Landlord Tenant Board meetings if needed, attending appointments with clients and meeting with other community agencies is required
  • Must be willing and able to assist in a handson capacity with a woman, youth or family's housing plan
  • Time management skills are necessary in a high energy, changing environment
  • Ability to work independently
  • Must be comfortable with advocacy and navigating systems

Qualifications

  • Postsecondary education in social services or a related field is required
  • Must be knowledgeable of and have experience working with a range of issues impacting women, youth and families including homelessness, violence against women and children, immigration, poverty, mental illness and substance use
  • Sound knowledge of the housing system in Hamilton, the Residential Tenancies Act, and the Ontario Human Rights Code required
  • Have a full understanding and be comfortable working from a personcentered, traumainformed approach
  • Minimum two years' experience working in the housing or homelessness sector required
  • Fluency in a 2ndlanguage is an asset
  • CPR certification or willingness to be certified is required
  • Valid G license required

Hours of Work:

Shifts are Day shifts (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and one evening shift (11 a.m. - 7 p.m.) per week. Some flexibility in work hours may be required.


Compensation:
$19.75/hr
