CAD Technician Student (8 months)
What You'll Be Working On
Our internships and Co-ops are designed to provide you with a business relevant project that will allow you to independently manage your own area of responsibility, while receiving support from an assigned Supervisor and Technical Mentor.
We are seeking a student to join us for an eight-month co-op position starting in May 2024.
This position will be based out of Trinity Communication Services Limited (a subsidiary of Bird Construction) located in Brampton, Ontario.
Responsibilities:
- Incorporate field changes and asbuilts using client specific software (AutoCAD).
- Identify, collect, and record required attributes in the design.
- Read and interpret existing drawings and plans to successfully create telecommunications network designs.
- Produce maps and work packages for construction purposes.
- Perform site walk, right of way and route assessment to confirm path is acceptable.
- Liaise with surveyors, drafters, contractors, and field crew to convey design information and determine solutions.
- Able to travel for projects as required.
- Performs other duties as required.
- You are currently enrolled in your 2nd, 3rd or 4th year of an Engineering program
- Must be proficient with AutoCAD Version 2013 or higher
- Experience working with NetX and SpatialNet is an asset
- Experience working with Visio or Micro-Station is an asset
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- You will complete at least one more semester of education following your internship and possess a GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Ability to lead and operate within an environment where change happens frequently

- Residency, or a valid work permit which would allow you to work for Bird Construction or one of our wholly owned subsidiaries
- If you are selected for a role with client specific requirements, you may be required to successfully complete a preemployment Medical and/or Alcohol & Drug testing.
