Duties and Responsibilities:


Reporting to the Assistant Manager, International Student Services Office, and liaising closely with academic departments, the incumbent is responsible for promoting and administering Carleton University's academic linkage and exchange programs for incoming and outgoing students.

The incumbent may also be involved in the processing, renewal, and monitoring of new and existing international academic exchange agreements specifically tailored to students requiring an international exchange experience.

The position will also be responsible for assisting in the delivery of engagement activities for incoming and outgoing exchange students.


Qualifications:


The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:

  • Conversant with the structure of Carleton University;
  • Excellent knowledge of the types of exchange program activities being fostered at the university;
  • Academic advising skills, knowledge and the rules and regulations outlining the academic audit;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills are required;
  • Strong organizational skills are required;
  • Critical thinking skills and strong problemsolving abilities;
  • Creative, flexible, and adaptable;
  • Thorough knowledge of the University operating procedures;
  • Good administrative skills, sound judgment, tact and ability to deal effectively with people as well as continuing awareness and sensitivity to other cultures.
  • Must be trained on updating website, social media and social media tools;
  • Strong knowledge of international higher education practices and procedures is required including an understanding of exchange agreements.
  • Patience, tact and diplomacy is required to assist with international agreements.
  • May require the incumbent to work some evenings and weekends.

Education and Experience:


The above is normally acquired through the completion of:

  • An undergraduate degree from an accredited university.
  • Three years of related work experience in a postsecondary environment, ideally related to the administrative of international exchange agreements and programs.
  • Experience in academic advising is required.
  • Experience must also include at least six of the following fields: Administrative writing; Program evaluation; Website maintenance; Promoting social media; Program facilitation/delivery; Quantitative/qualitative research methods; International education; Marketing; and/or Communications.
