The Ministry of Education and Child Care provides leadership, support and funding for British Columbia's early childhood and K-12 education systems.


The Resource Management Division is accountable to provide leadership, direction, governance, and support services to the Ministry with respect to financial management, capital management, strategic human resources management and communications, corporate projects, enterprise risk management and facilities management and security.


The Strategic HR Branch is responsible for the Ministry's strategic human resources direction ensuring alignment with ministry and corporate priorities.

The Branch provides services in human resources strategic planning and organization development; advises on corporate human resources policies and change management; coordinates ministry employee relations services; develops a succession planning program; establishes leadership development requirements and various learning strategies to increase knowledge, skills and organizational productivity; and works in collaboration with the BC Public Service Agency on a variety of corporate human resource priorities such as workforce planning, succession management, learning and development, attraction and recruitment, and equity and belonging strategies.


Reporting through the Strategic Human Resources Branch, the SHR Coordinator role supports a wide range of strategic HR functions such as: recruitment, strategic workforce planning, retention, organizational development, succession management, employee engagement and corporate initiatives.

The SHR Coordinator uses their expertise and excellent organization skills to provide high-quality support to their partners and clients both internal and external.


Job Requirements:


  • Secondary School graduation or equivalent (such as a GED).
  • Experience working in a professional office environment in an administrative role.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience prioritizing workloads and delivering results in a high volume environment with strict deadlines.

Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • Completed courses in office or business administration.
  • Experience in a human resources role or environment.
  • Experience supporting the administration of the public service recruitment process.

The posted salary is effective April 1, 2023.

This is a temporary opportunity until November 15, 2024 and may be extended. A permanent appointment may result from this temporary appointment.
