YOUCAN Youth Services is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to empowering youth, so they have the knowledge, support, and skills to remove themselves from harm's way.

Our end goals for the youth we work with are; stay in school, return to school, or secure and maintain employment.

If those end goals are achieved, this will ensure economic independence in the future for the youth in our programs.

The core function of the Transitional Youth Outreach Worker (TOW) is to engage and support at-risk youth a process of change.

This allows young people to move out of their current situation and begin to foster independence.

The TOW will work closely with team members, supervisors and other support workers to ensure that each young person is ready, willing and able to bring about the change of moving into employment into their lives.


Responsibilities

  • The Transitional Youth Outreach Worker (TOW) will understand, practice and promote the vision, mission, and values of the organization.
  • Maintain a caseload of youth.
  • Build and maintain relationships with youth before or during our preemployment programs.
  • Ensuring 23 intentional weekly contacts with each youth on the caseload during the work experience follow up period, using YOUCAN Youth Services Relentless approach.
  • Communicate with employers to support job retention.
  • Work with youth to create opportunities for personal development and employment trainings when necessary.
  • Advocate for youth needs with respect to housing, legal assistance, mental health supports, employment, academic supports, etc.
  • Maintain contact with other supports in the youth's network to implement opportunities for growth.
  • Documenting/log daily occurrences and work within the needs assessment and service plan for youth on the caseload.
  • Engage in ongoing personal and professional development to increase capacity to serve young people.
  • Engage and support youth in restorative dialogue processes when conflict has occurred to lower recidivism and increase engagement at work or school.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Child and Youth Care, or equivalent experience minimum of three years of direct service work with atrisk youth.
  • Understanding of and experience working with atrisk, multiculturally diverse youth.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Capacity to think and act intentionally and strategically to help youth change behaviours.
  • Capacity for creative problemsolving, conflict resolution and violence prevention.
  • Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to work constructively and cooperatively in a team setting.
  • Knowledge and experience with case management and data tracking.
  • Flexibility with work hours/schedule as required for youth needs.
  • Valid Driver's License with insurance of two million dollar liability.
  • Completion of Criminal Record and Child Welfare check.

Salary:
$52,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
