    Job Description

    Job Purpose

    Provide Unix Server administration and technical escalation point as a member of the CBTS team. Develop and execute procedures for break/fix repair, change requests, and scheduled maintenance. Responsible for assisting in the implementation and support of Unix devices. Responsible for customer Unix Server and procedure documentation.

    Essential Functions

  • 40% - Write, and maintain systems documentation. Work with team leads to develop procedures and guidelines for implementation and management of Unix Server administration
  • 40% - Provide direction to Tier I and Tier II Server team
  • 15% - Configuration of Unix Servers devices
  • 5% - Unix Server analysis and patch management
  • Experience

  • 6 to 7 years of experience
  • Hands-on experience with HP Openview, or equivalent tools
  • Working with troubleshooting tools such as ping, traceroute, nslookup, dig, snoop, tcpdump
  • General understanding of IP subnetting including variable length subnet masks
  • Hands-on experience with Clustering us MC Servicegaurd, or Veritas
  • Hands-on experience with SAN, LVM, extended filesytems, etc.
  • Education

  • Four years of College resulting in a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
  • 6-7 or more years Unix Server Experience
  • 3 or more years SAN experience
  • 3 or more years of experience working in high availability environments
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer certification or equivalent
  • SUN SCNA certification or equivalent
  • Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP including sub netting
  • Working knowledge of Clustering and High availability systems
  • Working knowledge of SAN and extending logical volumes/managers
  • Working knowledge of secure filesystems, permissions
