DIETARY AIDE/DINING ROOM SERVER

JOB DESCRIPTION

Qualifications:


  • Previous serving experience, preferably in a retirement home.
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, stand and walk short distances throughout the day and to tolerate heat from kitchen area.
  • Must hold Smart Serve Certificate.
  • Must be willing to work as a team player and demonstrate a positive attitude.
  • Must provide a Police Check - Vulnerable Sector
  • Bilingualism is an asset.
  • Must provide proof of negative TB Test
  • Must complete ORCA Online Training—link provided by employer
  • Must provide proof of 2 Vaccinations and Booster Shot for Covid 19

Responsibilities:


  • Complete departmental cleaning and warewashing as required.
  • Serve food to residents observing special diet restrictions, resident preferences and outlined departmental procedures.
  • Load and safely operate dishwasher. Complete manual warewashing as required.
  • Set up serving carts and meal trays.
  • Prepare beverages and snacks and deliver to designated areas.
  • Clear tables, clean and reset for next service.
  • Perform kitchen cleanup duties.
  • Roll silverware and refill condiments.
  • Take out garbage and recyclable materials.
  • Sweep and mop floor and assist in scheduled cleaning duties in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Keep work areas clean, dry and free of hazardous equipment and supplies, etc.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures including fire and safety programs.
  • Perform other related duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Dress Requirements:


  • Clean, Black Scrubs (shirt and pants)
  • Comfortable, closed-toe shoes, close-heeled non-slip black shoes.
  • Empire issued name tags must be worn at all times.
  • If hair is past shoulder length, it must be tied back, for safety reasons.
  • Minimum amount of jewellery.
  • No nail polish is permitted.
  • Hairnets or other approved hair coverings as required.
  • Visible body piercing jewellery is not permitted outside of religious or ethnic observance, with the exception of studs no bigger than 1/8 inch in diameter
  • Jewellery is to be limited to wedding rings, stud earrings and watches.
  • Tattoos that are greater than 3" or perceived by the employer as offensive, hostile or that diminish the effectiveness of the employee's professionalism must be covered, and not visible to staff, residents or visitors.
  • Perfume and cologne are not permitted

Job Types:
Part-time, Permanent

Part-time hours: 20-30 per week


Pay:
$15.50-$17.49 per hour


Flexible Language Requirement:

  • French not required

Schedule:

  • 4 hour shift
  • 8 hour shift
  • Day shift
  • Evenings

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • North Bay, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience:

- dietary aide: 1 year (preferred)
- food and beverage: 1 year (required)
