About Us:

The Utilities Division is responsible for policy development and advice related to Alberta's electricity and retail natural gas system.


Role:


You will be primarily responsible for assisting Rural Utilities to facilitate the development, growth and competitiveness of Alberta's gas, electric and water co-operative associations.


You will be one of the resources by which stakeholder clients and consumers will be connected to the department and Government of Alberta for the services they require.


Reporting to the Director, Rural Utilities, the Program Officer is responsible and accountable for the administration of rural utility programs, including the Rural Electric, Rural Gas, and Rural Water programs.

The Program Officer is also responsible for general administration of the Rural Utilities Section.


Accountabilities of the role include:


  • Administering the various rural utilities programs, including corresponding with various stakeholder clients and responding to requests for information or services.
  • Providing grant management support for the Rural Utilities team.
  • Assist with information transfer from professional staff to the general public.
  • Assist the Director, Manager, and section staff in preparing and monitoring section budgets and purchasing.
  • Respond to Division and Branch inquiries for information, including the coordination of action requests directed to the section and branch. Ensuring that they are received, reviewed and approved in a timely manner.
  • Providing general administration services for the Rural Utilities Section, including data entry, filing, budgeting, and purchasing.

Qualifications:


Minimum standard Requirement:
High school diploma and a minimum of three years related experience is required.

Equivalencies will be considered on a one-for-one basis.

Basic knowledge and understanding of the utilities sector and rural lifestyles are an asset.

Salary:

$1,884.99 to $2,307.87/ bi-weekly ($49,198 to $60,235 / Year)

This role is a permanent, full-time position with the standard weekly work hours as 36.25, Monday to Friday.
