Job Summary:


The Learning Support Facilitator will work primarily with student leaders, and mentors who guide other students to academic success as well as perform other duties to support the program Coordinator.


The Facilitator:

Assists the SLG Coordinator in selection and hiring of new leaders and mentors.

Collaborates with the Coordinator, SLG leaders, and mentors to identify, formulate, and revise training plans and resources.

Engages with student leaders and mentors to resolve issues related to student learning, success, and training.

Assists the Coordinator in determining aspects of the SLG programming such as course selection, leader management, and training, etc.

Supervises mentors, organizes mentor meetings, evaluates mentor reports, and provides support to the mentors.

Assists the Coordinator in planning the pre-service and in-service trainings.

Maintains confidential records related to all student information.

Assists the Coordinator in data collection and analysis.

Attends information sessions and events as needed.

Serves on committees and task forces as requested.

Undertakes miscellaneous administrative tasks to support the SLG program.

Is proactive in identifying learning support opportunities.

Supports the SLG team in sustaining quality programs and acts as an advocate of the program.


Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Counselling Psychology, Adult Education, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Leadership Development, Teaching (PDP) or other related fields.

Three years' experience working in an academic support and/or learning support environment. Teaching experience in a post-secondary setting is considered an asset.

Experience coaching and mentoring students in an educational environment.

Demonstrated practice of alternative methods of teaching and learning, including fostering reflective capacities in students.

Ability to work and relate to student leaders with different learning abilities/skills.

Ability to collaborate well with faculty members, staff, and students.

Detail-oriented professional who is organized and possesses strong planning and communication skills (written and oral).

Proven presentation and facilitation skills.

Excellent time management skills.

High level of creativity and professionalism.

Excellent interpersonal skills.

Ability to take initiative and work without direct supervision.


Proficiency in software:
Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Knowledge of Adobe In-Design or Photoshop is an asset.

Ability to use Blackboard Collaborate preferred.
