    Reporting to the Maintenance Leader, the Industrial Automation Technician will actively participate in the new plant construction project and start-up.

    The Automation Technician position is a day shift position with the work schedule being determined closer to plant commissioning. This position requires travel to Sherbrooke, Quebec approximately 2 weeks per month until facility start-up for training. (The Industrial Automation Technician will perform tasks related to the programming and troubleshooting of automation equipment as well as the proper functioning and repair of equipment for electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic aspects.

    They will work in collaboration with the majority of departments and provide technical support to the production team both during shift and on-call after hours for facility emergencies.

    The Automation Technician will abide by all rules of occupational health and safety in their day to day routine.

    This position will require the automation technician to endure the challenges associated with a facility start-up and prove themselves as a pillar of maintenance through leadership and perseverance.

    This position will allow for development of skills through individual assignments and larger group projects.

    Their skills and understanding of the production and automated equipment push them to continuously improve on production and industrial systems.

    Acting as an electrical expert.
    Assisting with installation of new equipment and automation systems.
    Improving the reliability of the systems and automation in place.
    Using controls and PLC knowledge to assist in troubleshooting, improvements, and to assist with new projects.
    Performing all required repairs as well as preventive maintenance to electrical, control, and production equipment.
    Performing mechanical repairs and lubrication maintenance activities as necessary.
    Completing inspections of various equipment and facilities (machinery, buildings, etc.).
    Ensuring that electrical, and electronic equipment is safe at all times.
    Electrical certification (442A/309A) and/or
    Two diplomas of vocational studies (related to the field)
    Hands-on Electrical Installations and conform to Code Book requirements
    PLC and Structured Text
    Good knowledge of industrial equipment and controls
    ASI, Weidmueller, Control Expert, and Fanuc robot experience
    French speaking (An asset)
    Being aware of the safety rules and being involved on the safety policy of the plan
    Day Shift (5 days x 8 hours, schedule TBD)

    Must be available according to the schedule set to answer service calls for machines including after hours for facility emergencies.

    Must be able to travel to Sherbrooke (Quebec) for training during the first year.
