InterAtlas Chemical is looking for a self-directed and experienced Controller to assist the CFO in overseeing and executing all Accounting and Finance activities.

In the role of Controller, you will be responsible for oversight of the General Accountant position, maintaining the accounting records, performing the banking and payroll functions, as well as financial analysis, forecasting and budget management.

Supporting in human resources will include policy and procedure compliance.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE

  • Work closely with the CFO and other senior management
  • Support the company's strategic plans
  • Maintain the company's accounting records in Quickbooks and supporting reconciliations in MS Excel, and manage the year end process with the external accountants
  • Monitor financial performance of the company, compile and analyze financial reporting packages in a timely manner
  • Participate in continuous development and management of financial controls in accordance with the company's procedures
  • Communicate financial metrics to CFO and senior management as well as external stakeholders
  • Oversee the accounts receivable function, including invoicing and collections
  • Oversee the accounts payable function, including government remittances
  • Perform all banking transactions, with oversight of the CFO, including foreign exchange transactions
  • Perform the payroll function, including biweekly payroll administration, reconciliation and filing of annual T4's, participating in bonus and remuneration planning
  • Perform government filings (HST, EHT, WSIB, etc)
  • Participate in management of the company's commercial and health insurance policies
  • Work with CFO to prepare annual operating budgets
  • Other duties may be assigned as required

QUALIFICATIONS THAT ARE IMPORTANT TO US

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related discipline
  • CPA accounting designation, or an equivalent combination of related experience and education
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a senior accounting or financial management role

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS TO SUCCEED

  • Advanced understanding of international trade finance, experience in performance of worldwide banking transactions
  • Strong working knowledge of detailed financial data analysis
  • Working knowledge of Canadian federal and provincial tax compliance regulations and reporting. A basic familiarity with the US federal and state tax regulations is an asset.
  • Experience in performance of banking transactions
  • Experience in payroll administration and Human Resources
  • Ability to work closely with a senior management team
  • Attention to detail and proven ability to analyze large amounts of data
  • Good team player with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
