    POSITION SUMMARY

    :

    Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Accountant, Abbotsford Canucks is responsible for the preparation of monthly financial statements, monitoring of the annual budget, and forecasting primarily for arena operations.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    (Other duties may be assigned as required)

  • Preparing weekly bank reconciliations and monthly journal entries
  • Analyzing expenses and allocating expenses to other companies
  • Managing balance sheet accounts and intercompany reconciliations
  • Preparing monthly departmental reports for Directors and Managers
  • Assisting A/P with invoice coding, taxes, and month end accruals
  • Assisting in the preparation of the next fiscal operating budget
  • Assisting with year-end audit working papers
  • Assisting with reconciliation and posting journal entries from inventory management software and point of sale reporting for hospitality and retail sales
  • Assisting with event settlements and gathering necessary components such as box office reports, operations activities, catering costs, stagehand, and other labour costs
  • Assisting in end-of-night settlements with promoters and merchandise teams, as required
  • Facilitating service agreements for arena operations, communicating with suppliers, and assisting in negotiation of contracts
  • Other duties as required
  • REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 1 year of general accounting experience
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have completed or are enrolled in a relevant post-secondary program
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, D365 or other accounting systems
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Speed and accuracy in data entry
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to effectively communicate financial results to various members of the leadership team
  • Ability to work in a high pressure environment under strict time deadlines
  • A team player attitude with a strong customer service focus
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends as required
