An automation machine builder assembles, commissions, and trouble shoots a variety of

equipment including Special Machines, Secondary Equipment, Assembly Automation, Robotic Cells, in addition to

other types of equipment.


Reporting to:
Automation Machine Build Leader


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Assemble purchased and manufactured components per prints and CAD information.
  • Assemble pneumatic, and hydraulic components.
  • Verify conformity of parts to bills of materials and designs/prints.
  • Fit and adjust components and assemblies to meet close tolerances and overall functionality.
  • Prepare as built drawing markups as required.
  • Organize, plan, and execute all phases of project.
  • Machine or fabricate components as required.
  • Interface with mechanical design, electrical, and controls departments regarding all phases of build.
  • Work as a team leader smaller projects and train apprentices or junior team members.
  • Perform in house equipment runoffs.
  • Install and service projects at customer site.
  • Provide information and feedback to design/engineering for technical documentation.
  • Maintain tools, work areas, and equipment in a safe, clean, and orderly fashion.
  • Other duties as required.

Skills & Experience:


  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to read blueprints with understanding of GD&T.
  • Knowledge of pneumatic systems and fluid control systems.
  • Knowledge of materials and material treatments such as hardening and coatings.
  • Operate a variety of equipment including mills, surface grinders, and lathes.
  • Use of measurement tools.
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot problems.
  • Quality systems (ISO), 5S, and Lean manufacturing knowledge.
  • Solidworks CAD software.

Requirements:


  • Ability to work in fast paced / team environment.
  • Maintain high quality and efficiency standards at all times.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Valid Ontario Driver's license and Canadian Passport.
  • Ability to travel to and within Canada, USA and Mexico.
  • Proper tools for assembly and measurement.
  • Follow all health and safety procedures.

Education:


  • Minimum High School diploma.
  • Machinist/Millwright Mechanic or equivalent experience.
