Overview:


We are looking to employ a driven and detail oriented individual to create, modify, and manage production schedules, as well as work with staff across departments to forecast the needs of the business and make purchasing decisions based on demand.


The Production Planning and Purchasing Administrator will be responsible to monitor inventory levels, regularly providing production status updates to management, and facilitating the timely delivery of products to customers.

This individual should also be able to closely monitor the production process to ensure that production orders are completed on time and within budget.


Responsibilities:


  • Customer contact for scheduling and forecasts.
  • Evaluating customer purchase orders to create suitable production schedules.
  • Promptly addressing production issues to minimize delays in production.
  • Coordinating production operations in accordance with material, labour, and equipment availability.
  • Recommending viable solutions to reduce production costs, as well as improve production processes and product quality.
  • Effecting changes to production schedules to ensure that production deadlines are met.
  • Compiling status and performance metrics and submitting them to management in a timely manner.
  • Promptly informing the relevant parties of changes to current production schedules.
  • Schedule usage of production materials to ensure optimal production levels.
  • Evaluate suppliers on quality and on time delivery to match according to goals.
  • Monitor material supply flow and identify any shortages or bottlenecks in usage.
  • Identify and resolve problems relating to inventory.
  • Update inventory and ensure that stock levels are kept at appropriate levels.
  • Manage deadlines based on project expectations.
  • Research, select and purchase quality products and materials.
  • Build relationships with suppliers and negotiate with them for the best pricing.
  • Process requisitions and purchase orders.
  • Coordinate with the inventory team, management, and stockroom as required.
  • Assess quality of stock received and escalate any discrepancies to suppliers and management.

Qualifications:


  • Prior experience as a production planners and/or purchaser in the industry is an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and timemanagement skills.
  • Strong regard for product quality and safety standards.
  • Sharp analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Meticulous and diligent.
  • Able to sit, stand and move around for long hours at a time.
  • Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) accreditation, or other relevant certification is considered an asset.
  • Proven experience working as a production planner is considered an asset.
  • Sound knowledge of material requirements planning (MRP) and related software is an asset.
  • Proficient in appropriate software.
  • Critical thinking and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of sales and marketing principles is advantageous.
