Position Summary

Reporting to the Vice President of Environmental, Social and Governance (VP, ESG), the Manager, Environmental Sustainability will work across the company to implement and measure environmental sustainability initiatives that support the organization's ESG strategy and roadmap.

While the position will lead environmental sustainability initiatives broadly across the organization, the priority will be to deliver greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction projects on Concert's diverse portfolio of buildings, working in collaboration with the Property Management Team.

The position will also lead the implementation of ESG reporting and disclosure.

This will include an annual ESG report and disclosures with external third-party organizations such as GRESB, PRI, utilities and municipalities.


What you'll be doing:


  • Lead and support other business units in the implementation of environmental sustainability actions identified in its ESG strategy and roadmap.
  • Lead ESG reporting initiatives including annual 3rd party GHG reporting, and submissions to GRESB and PRI.
  • Monitor, analyze and implement data verification controls for Concert's GHG management software, producing quarterly reports.
  • Educate and promote the ESG strategy and roadmap with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Act as an inhouse research and technical resource for environmental sustainability related inquiries and projects.
  • Support the development and execution of retrofit projects that result in cost savings and lower GHG emissions.
  • Work with the VP, ESG to explore and develop business cases to reduce GHG emissions.
  • Ensure all necessary invoices are submitted for incentives from utilities.
  • Help coordinate and present any applicable employee awareness training on environmental sustainability.
  • Submit a quarterly assessment to utility partner, outlining all completed, current and planned projects that will result in energy and GHG emission savings.

Requirements:


Education should include one of the following: a master's degree in sustainability, planning, or engineering.

Or an undergraduate degree supplemented with relevant experience, and or the completion of one of the following:

BCIT SEMAC (Sustainable Energy Management Advanced Certificate), Douglas College Building Energy and Resource Management program certificate, Langara Energy Management Certificate, CIET Certified Energy Manager.


  • Demonstrated interest and enthusiasm related to sustainability, and or energy efficiency (work/volunteer experience).
  • Familiarity and knowledge of energy efficient technologies (implementation of a project or attendance of a course).
  • Experience in capital project management.
  • Ability to develop compelling business cases and write comprehensive reports.
  • Experience in financial analysis, preparing and managing budgets.
  • Experience using common computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills and presentation skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, with a commitment to producing high quality work, including thorough selfreview.
  • Strong team player, with willingness to assist others as needed.
  • Curious, enthusiastic and a desire and aptitude to grow and progress professionally within a supportive environment.
