Description

The Position

Under the general direction of the Library Manager, or their delegate, the Librarian 3 is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the library.

Oversees the organization and delivery of exceptional customer services. Plans and oversees library programs and events that meet community needs. This position is responsible for financial reporting and coordinating building and equipment maintenance. Leads and supervises staff. Performs administrative duties.

Demonstrated ability to prepare and maintain reports, correspondence, statistics, procedure manuals and records.
Demonstrated knowledge of and proficiency in reader's advisory, reference search strategy/interview techniques and programming.
Demonstrated knowledge of public library resources and services.
In depth understanding of automated library systems and a demonstrated proficiency in the use of a variety of technologies.
Demonstrated proficiency and interest in using a variety of digital devices.
Ability to carry out job functions with flexibility, creativity and initiative.
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Strong organizational skills.

Requirements:

Master's Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited library school or equivalent library degree.
Management certificate from a recognized institution, or equivalent.
Minimum of four years experience working as a Librarian, including 2 years experience in a supervisory role and 2 years experience in library operations.

Those selected for an interview will be required to give a 10 minute presentation on an assigned topic

Valid B. C. Drivers licence (minimum level 'N') is required
