    What you will be doing:

    • Cloud Operations Financial Analysis and Visibility:
      • Lead Cloud cost visibility across the organization.
      • Conduct cost analysis of cloud infrastructure usage.
      • Identify cost optimization opportunities and provide recommendations.
      • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align financial goals with technical decisions.
    • Cultivate FinOps Culture:
      • Drive the adoption and promotion of FinOps principles and practices within the organization.
      • Initiate and nurture a culture that emphasizes responsible and efficient cloud spending.
    • Guidance on Cloud Spending:
      • Provide guidance to teams to make informed decisions on cloud spending.
      • Collaborate with technical teams to ensure alignment between their needs and cloud expenses.
    • Improved Budgeting and Forecasting:
      • Improve budgeting processes and enhance cloud cost forecasting accuracy for the cloud operations team.
      • Develop and manage budgets for cloud infrastructure and related services.
      • Monitor and report on budget variances.
    • Efficiency Programs and Optimization Strategies:
      • Drive Efficiency Programs.
      • Implement and execute strategies for optimizing infrastructure costs.
      • Drive initiatives to improve resource utilization and efficiency.
      • Stay updated on industry best practices for cost optimization.
    • Cost Modeling and Automation:
      • Forecast future costs based on usage patterns and growth projections.
      • Analyze cost implications of architecture and design decisions.
      • Utilize FinOps tools and platforms to monitor and manage costs.
      • Integrate cost monitoring into the overall observability and alerting system.
      • Leverage AI within the FinOps practice, including self-service empowerment for end users.
    • Collaboration and Training:
      • Work closely with Architecture, Site Reliability Engineering, Development, Cloud Operations and Finance to align on goals.
      • Communicate cost-related insights and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
      • Facilitate training sessions to promote FinOps best practices within the organization.
    • Policy, Governance, and Continuous Improvement:
      • Establish and enforce policies related to cost management.
      • Define and document financial governance processes.
      • Ensure compliance with organizational budget and financial guidelines.
      • Conduct regular reviews of cost metrics and performance indicators.
      • Identify areas for improvement and implement continuous optimization practices.
      • Participate in post-mortems and root cause analysis related to cost incidents.
    • Cloud Vendor Management and Collaboration with Leadership:
      • Engage with cloud service providers to negotiate contracts and pricing.
      • Stay informed about changes in pricing models and services offered by vendors.
      • Evaluate and recommend new tools or services that could improve cost efficiency.
      • Collaborate with multiple stakeholders, including c-suite, to help them understand the breakdown of cloud costs and negotiation opportunities.

    What we're looking for:

    • Education and Experience:
      • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
      • Experience in a FinOps, financial analysis, or cost management role.
      • Strong understanding of cloud computing technologies and architectures.
      • Minimum of 5 years of experience in cloud infrastructure.
      • Certifications in FinOps or cloud platforms are a plus.
    • Technical Proficiency:
      • Proficiency in using FinOps tools and platforms.
      • Advanced knowledge of cloud concepts and infrastructures.
      • Experience with Kubernetes is essential.
      • Familiarity with AWS and/or GCP.
    • Skills and Attributes:
      • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
      • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
      • Advanced time management skills.
      • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy.
      • Proactive and self-motivated.

    This role requires strong English skills to interact with global colleagues outside Quebec. Proficiency in both spoken and written English is essential.
