Headquartered in Hawkesbury, Ontario, Tulmar operates a modern 60,000 square foot facility with equipment ranging from computerized cutting tables, stitching machines R.F.

(radio frequency) welding and heat sealing equipment to highly sophisticated testing and certification equipment including cold temperature test chambers, inertia reel testing equipment and computerized measurement and test equipment for quality inspection.

We are currently looking for a
Production Manager to join a dynamic & close-knit team


Under the guidance of the Director of Manufacturing, the Production Manager is responsible for all production related duties in support of the daily operations of Manufacturing.

More specifically, the Production Manager is accountable for supervising, motivating, supporting staff, maintaining open communication, scheduling, strategizing, overseeing all production activities and creating and maintaining a motivating work environment that promotes and embraces lean manufacturing fundamentals and practices.


Duties & responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement plans to efficiently use materials, labor, and equipment to meet production targets/customer expectations
  • Determine the human and equipment resources required to meet the monthly production schedules
  • Monitor the production processes and adjust schedules and manpower as needed
  • Ensure production is cost effective by monitoring standard time and adhering to budget
  • Propose process enhancements/improvements to increase production quality and capacity
  • Ensure that products are produced on time and conform to specifications
  • Communicate with the Purchasing Manager to expedite material shortages
  • Liaise with different departments to ensure schedules are realistic and achievable such as Manufacturing Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Customer Service, Maintenance, etc.
  • Work with the Directors to implement action plans that will facilitate the successful achievement of the company's policies and goals
  • Ensure that Health and Safety guidelines are followed and that the work environment is clean and organized
  • Conduct weekly reviews with Team Leads to monitor output (quality, standard times, training, new procedures, etc.) and at least once per month with the individual teams
  • Identify training needs to support an agile, lean and flexible workforce that is cross trained
  • Analyze inspection yields and rejects to detect and correct quality non conformances
  • Ensure that standard operating procedures are followed and adhered to
  • Coordinate with various departments the annual physical material inventory and ensure that teams are trained and that the data is accurate
  • Ensure that the production staff follow Company policies, and provide constructive feedback and guidance when policies are not followed
  • Coordinate with QC and Customer Service, the rework or replacement of RMAs in a timely fashion that meets the Customer requirements and Tulmar's requirements
  • Recruit personnel and oversee development and maintenance of staff competence in required areas in addition to selection, evaluation, progressive discipline and remuneration of staff
  • All other duties as required

What you need to succeed:

  • Knowledge of manufacturing principles and business practices including extensive knowledge of lean mfg., MRP., ISO, shop floor documentation, process control specifications, etc.
  • Knowledge of related manufacturing technology including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, RF welding, sewing, adhesive bonding, heat sealing
  • Excellent production planning and capital budget management skills
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office environment
  • Strong English communication skills, both oral and written with the ability to facilitate meetings, conduct training and to present information in an advisory capacity
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Excellent multitasking, analytical and decision making skills with the ability to troubleshoot, identify root cause and systematically solve problems
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
  • Ability to travel as required by the position
  • Capable of building a positive organizational culture and a strong team environment
  • Capable of working in a team environment and managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Valid driver's license and valid passport
  • Valid Police Records Check and basic security clearance
  • Flexible and willing to accept new challenges
