This is for one permanent position and one 18-month term (anticipatory permanent). TA's will be considered for existing YG employees.

The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Sheriff, this position is responsible for providing security for the Courts and for Judiciary and court services staff while they are engaged in Court business.

This position is also responsible for executing Writs of Seizure and Sale, providing service of documents, enforcing civil Court orders and providing responsible jury management throughout Yukon.

This position is designated as a peace officer by the Criminal Code of Canada and may be required to exercise some of the attendant duties of that designation.

Essential Qualifications

Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the following qualifications. Please note that selection for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.

Post-secondary coursework in criminology, law, policing, investigations, enforcement, security or other related field
Significant experience using de-escalation techniques and negotiation skills
Significant experience in civil or criminal law enforcement in an unsecured environment e.g. in public and community settings

Desired Knowledge, Skills and Suitability

Excellent conflict resolution and problem solving skills
Good judgment and a strong work ethic
The ability to provide exceptional customer service
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
The ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
The ability to work well independently and in a team environment
The ability to work well under pressure and carry out emergency procedures
Experience using Microsoft Office programs (Word, Outlook, Excel)


Additional Information:

Conditions of Employment

Have and maintain security clearance
Valid Yukon Class 5 driver's licence
Obtain and maintain Notary Public, First Aid Level C with CPR
Use of force certifications as required
Medical Clearance


Job Requirements:

Travel to Yukon communities and remote locations
Working overtime with little or no notice
Wearing a uniform and personal protective equipment that includes a vest and a duty belt
Lifting up to 50 lbs, carrying up to 25 lbs
Driving in adverse conditions and or for ex
