Position Summary:


Reporting to the Associate Registrar, Technical Services with an informal reporting relationship to the Executive Director, Strategic Enrolment Management and Registrar, the Strategic Enrolment Intelligence Analyst provides strategic level statistical and research support to enrolment management and planning through the provision of institutional reports, quantitative and qualitative information analysis and data synthesis to support strategic, operational and management decisions related to student recruitment, student retention, enrolment, and student success.

Additionally, a primary goal of the incumbent will be to collaborate with the Office of Institutional Research in the development of a Key Enrolment Indicator (KEI) and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) dashboard which requires the synthesis and integration of data from multiple systems (Banner, UR Courses, Advisor by Conclusive, etc.).


The Analyst is considered a data scientist primarily serving to leverage student enrolment efforts with analytical and interpretation of data related to environmental scanning, student recruitment, student retention, enrolment trends, facilitating the strategic enrolment planning process, and providing sound research and analysis for evidence-based decision making.

The incumbent will work closely with the University's academic planning and enrolment planning teams, the recruitment and retention committees, the Registrar, the Director of Enrolment Services, and the Office of Institutional Research to generate and present internal reports to guide these efforts.


Provide expert research and analysis in the development of reports, data analytics, and dashboards that inform Key Enrolment Indicators (KEIs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that support enrolment management and planning:

  • Works with the Academic Analytics Team to identify long-term, adhoc data, and reporting needs.
  • Works collaboratively with SEM and Academic Planning groups, Deans, and other senior administrators to identify KEIs and KPIs reporting needs.
  • Identifies data quality issues for review and resolution.
  • Integrates data from multiple systems and develops reports and dashboards for use in operational and strategic decisionmaking.
  • Responsible for overseeing user acceptance testing and report/dashboard adjustments.
  • Performs complex data analysis in support of adhoc and standing data consumer requests.
  • In collaboration with the Executive Director Strategic Enrolment Management and Registrar, identifies key areas for environmental scanning and methodologies for external data extraction and reporting.

Use reporting software (

COGNOS

  • Works collaboratively with the Office of Instructional Research and Information Services in the development of reporting dashboards.
  • Configures dashboards to meet the needs of the decision makers.
  • Ensures that the processes used in the development of dashboards reflect institutional policy and best practice.

Manage and analyze data to support ad-hoc reporting needs:

  • The incumbent will build and distribute ad-hoc reports to relevant parties. This includes working with other university areas such as Financial Services, Human Resources, and other administrative areas from time to time.

Position Summary:


  • Completion of a Master's degree in a research related field with emphasis in statistics, dataanalytics, or business intelligence
  • 35 years working as an analyst or with student systems in a university, college or postsecondary environment
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered
  • Experience in a reporting environment would be considered an asset
  • Must have a strong knowledge of the tools used in data analysis and be able to analyze vast amounts of data from multiple sources
  • This position must have the knowledge and skills of a Business Analyst that allows them to be able to liaison between end users across campus and the technical experts in Information Services
  • Must have a knowledge of regression analysis, descriptive statistics, and probability theory
  • Demonstrated capacity to work well with and direct both nontechnical and highly technical individuals in an academic environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skills and technical aptitude in a systems/database environment.
  • Proven ability to multitask in a fastpaced environment while paying attention to a high level of detail.
