The West Vancouver Memorial Library has an opening for a replacement temporary part-time Librarian I position working in the Youth Department working with preschoolers, kids, teens, families, and educators.

WVML's Youth Department is high-functioning, innovative, inclusive and proud to serve the community of West Vancouver.

We anticipate a Monday-Thursday schedule (including Monday evenings) with the option of taking occasional additional shifts on Sundays or Fridays, beginning in mid or late-May.

Duties may change based upon operational needs and may include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide patrons of all ages with expert and enthusiastic reader's advisory, research support and instruction at our Youth Department Information Desk and while roving
  • Planning and implementing developmentally appropriate and forwardthinking programming, ranging from early years storytimes to technology programing for middle years and families
  • Coordinating our popular Teen Volunteer Program (including training and monitoring teen volunteers) and Teen Advisory Group
  • Managing assigned Youth Department collections in all formats
- including selection of materials for purchase, analysis of collections and use, inventory, and coordination of systematic weeding,

  • Maintaining and building our rich partnerships and relationships with schools in West Vancouver, community groups and other organizations
  • Collaborating on projects with staff across Library departments
  • Act as a Designated Staff Member in Charge on evenings and/or weekends

  • 30 hours per week (hours and days of work may vary) Starting Rate of Pay:
  • $38.77 per hour
(This position has a pay structure with five steps which increase annually.)
